Travel and Stay
Getting there
We look forward to seeing you on Deer Isle. We kindly suggest you book accommodations as soon as possible as they can be limited. Please note there are no Ubers or Lyfts on Deer Isle.
ANNA’S COUSINS- if you have any extra rooms or cottages, please let Anna or Lize know ASAP!
We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding site from Sylvester’s Cove area and Pilgrim’s Inn and Oakland House. Time and location details to follow.
Traveling by car
Deer Isle is about a six hour drive from Vermont/Dartmouth (LL Bean is halfway and great for letting kids run around to stretch their legs), five hours from Boston, and eight hours from NYC.
Traveling by plane
You can fly into Portland, Bangor, or Bar Harbor and then rent a car. Portland is about three hours away, Bangor is an hour and a half, and Bar Harbor airport is about an hour away. We can also get you in touch with other people flying into those airports to coordinate cars, etc. There are no Ubers or anything on Deer Isle, so it might be easiest to have a car anyway.
The Pilgrim’s Inn
20 Main Street, Deer Isle
We have blocked off the whole Inn for the weekend. About a 12 minute drive to the wedding, five from Sylvester’s Cove. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding site. Please use code “RobertAndAnna” when booking or rooms may not show up. Website can be a bit finicky, so it might be easiest to call.
Oakland House
435 Herrick Road, Brooksville
A very cute inn with both rooms and cottages. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding site. A quick five minute drive to the wedding, about 15 from Sylvester’s Cove.
Brooklin Inn
22 Reach Road, Brooklin, Maine
A bit further to Sylvester’s Cove- 30ish minutes (a seriously beautiful drive though!) but only 15 minutes from the wedding site. A beautiful inn with a fantastic restaurant.
Airbnb and VRBO
Lodging is quite limited around Deer Isle, so we strongly recommend checking out AirBnB and VRBO. Check with Anna before you book a place to make sure it isn't too far away. Please note, airbnbs can look close on the map but be an hour or two drive if they are off island because of the twisty, inlet-y coast of Maine. (FUN FACT the coast of Maine is longer than the coast of California.) Lots of houses on the island sleep six or more people, so if you need to, reach out to us and we can help you find other couples/groups to share a house with! My great-grandmother used to say the fun of Deer Isle is every time you have dinner here you have a fresh hand from a great deck of cards of people. Embrace that and make some new friends!
Please reach out to us if you have having trouble finding a place to stay- we can probably help!
